A chart that refuses to lie

Conservationists do not iron a chart until the crease forgets itself. They mend with linen and wheat paste, and they leave the scar readable. Meridian treats broken sources that way.

The tear is evidence

A PDF that contradicts last month’s PDF is not an inconvenience. It is a sounding of the archive. We tape the two plates together on the table and draw the tear. The issued chart shows a scar, not a clone.

What we will not restore

  • Missing keepers filled in by a model.
  • A coastline invented to make the rhumb look professional.
  • “Cleaned” quotes that no longer match the tape.

If you need a restoration studio that makes everything look new, this is the wrong house.

The linen tape

In the product the tape is a record: who mended, when, and which two edges. It is boring on purpose. Boring mends last.
